An Dương Vương lên ngôi vua năm 257 trước Tây lịch, đóng đô tại Phong Khê, sau dời về Cổ Loa, xây thành tới ngàn trượng giống như hình xoáy ốc nên thường gọi là Loa Thành. Vua là nhà quân sự tài giỏi của buổi đầu dựng nước.
